Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Substantial Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, not long after, the channel introduced a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, evoking a animated take of a laid-back talk show. At a time often marked by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and supported its peculiarly charming style.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about observing this charming family go about their everyday routines.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to evolve comedy past its current cynical streak. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well help usher in that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to enjoy the warm glow of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is available for streaming on HBO Max.
