Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a former physician stands accused of committing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
