Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
