New Details Emerge About the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence residence on Sunday.
The Initial Report
According to a report referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, including the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held without bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
Additionally disputed published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
