Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Call

The president said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in Washington DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the individual that instructors hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy caused the administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit the family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” he told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
