Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the global break, however can the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' latest album, the new release, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday football team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be fairly close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was still Forest coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four games.

My son told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great success on the travel this season, and Brighton are always decent at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have have lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
