The renowned publisher has welcomed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.
Management Change Comes After Mixed Feedback
The new appointee steps into the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' disappointing initial reveal last fall.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer notified staff about this strategic move through an official communication, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a more defined vision.
The president noted that the developers is now reimagining the project with a revised vision, aiming to better meet gamer demands.
A Pattern of Strategic Hires
This announcement mirrors a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock development group.

The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was informative. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the need for a sharper identity.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the feedback to consideration and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed direction - one that’s ready to fulfill its ambition to our fans.
Our confidence in this project increases every day. To further the outstanding development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to welcome the new hire as the latest Director of 31st Union. After a period of conversations, he officially joins us on the specified date.
His leadership and experience in the competitive gaming space is vast, having spent the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most popular titles in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.

The appointee presently serves in the role of executive producer and head of production at the renowned studio for Apex Legends. He earlier was employed at Treyarch and Activision in diverse development positions on the iconic franchise series, and, earlier in his career, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.
Title Information and Concept
Project Ethos was announced in last year together with a public demo. Initially, the developers presented the title as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective roguelike hero shooter and an exciting advancement on the style."
